Day 19 ~ Me-Made-May 2014

My day was spent mowing and weedeating parts of our property for over 4 1/2 solid hours.  I... was...(am!)... so.... tired.  These clothes are what I chose to put on after my mid-afternoon shower because they just feel so soft and good.  The skirt is NEWLOOK 6108 paired with an unblogged oh-so-soft white knit Kirsten Kimono Tee, a free download by Maria Denmark.  (Thanks Nancy for the tip! I love this little top!)  My husband kindly took my photo for me after he got home from work and as we were finishing up, a John Deere Gator drove out of our woods!   We have cut trails through our property that link to our neighbor's trails and that neighbor was a' comin' to visit bringing 2 adolescent chicks with him..... as a gift.... for us.
A birthday present from his 2 year old grandson, our neighbor could not bring himself to hurt his little grandson's feelings, so he accepted the chickens.  We are happy to add these two cuties to our flock, so he's going to tell the little boy the chickens are staying at Tom and Lisa's because we have such a nice home for chickens.  We told him anytime he'd like to bring his grandson over to pet the chickens, they were always welcome.  Our other neighbor used to do that with their little girl until they built their own coop and now raise their own flock.
Our established flock of hens, who out-size these newcomers by at least double, are scared to death of them!  It is so funny!  I've made the photos large so you can see the 'teenage' chickens off to the far right with our established flock of hens to the far left literally turning their tails up at them, for the most part!
They are beginning to be a little curious here
Pretty outfit and all, I opened the barnyard gate and got right among the hens to take these photos.
Right after this oh-so-bold move, the big chickens scattered and ran to the other side of the yard!
That's what clothes, to me, are all about..... for my lifestyle.... and this day pictures needed to be taken of our silly chicken's antics!

    1. Thank you Judy! We are loving our new chickens. Melissa spent the evening holding and loving all over them trying to 'tame' them. Hopefully they'll be easier to hold and handle soon.

    1. Glad you got the comments blip fixed. Once you build a coop, chickens are not much work. Kind of like a cat..... put out food and water and they take care of themselves! Thank you Nancy!
