Me-Made-May 2014 In Summary

What began as a simple pledge to wear 'something' handmade by me each day of the month of May 2014, became a month I will certainly never forget.

Before I go any further, I have to thank Zoe for being such a great hostess and sharing her beautiful baby with us!  Then words cannot express how kind, supportive, encouraging and just plain 'nice' the international group of ladies were.  As a newcomer to sewing garments for myself, I loved to see what others around the world wore each day, 'meeting' new friends, getting to know one another through Flickr as we shared each day of our life during this one month.  It was a powerful experience for me.

It was also timeconsuming, though I enjoyed every single minute.  Photographs were taken almost everyday, with accompanying posts written in this blog, as well as for the Flickr description.  New to Flickr, that was a huge learning curve but by the end of the  month had figured out the html to write my links in a more correct way, as well as how Flickr feeds and comments works.  It seemed a more informal 'conversation' than a blog, so found it easier to write comments and reach out.
As you can see by the collage here, there were a lot of repeats.  But, I found I mixed and matched things up a little differently than I'd been doing, and that felt good.  By mid-month I decided to work on my photography skills and learned more about angles, lighting, camera apertures, tripod settings and such, as well as took photos in public places like the SC Botanical Gardens, The Old Stone Church, Clemson, SC and Hagood Mill.  Through the blog posts I tried to share a little of my daily life, almost like a 'journal' and hope folks got to maybe know me a little better.

By the end of the month I was in Charleston, SC helping my mother-in-law deal with some health issues, so I missed the last few days of the month.  But that's 'okay' and I feel that this entire month was such a positive experience I'd more than accomplished my goals.

I love being a part of such a creative, talented, inspiring sewing community and feel I am ready to expand my sewing skills with more complex garments and continue to sew my own clothes!
