I might need to do an update post on this, as this story has evolved. Within a few weeks after Dorothy received this shawl, they had a water pipe burst in their home, flooding their home to the point they had to evacuate and find other lodging while repairs were being completed. Dorothy's MIL's needs were so extreme, the only option was to place her in a nursing home, as a temporary solution, until they could get back into their home. Her MIL passed away within a week at the nursing home. After spending a few weeks in a hotel, the home was liveable enough for Dorothy and her husband to have returned and now her days are filled with workers and overseeing the repairs. It has truly been one thing after another for her. When things slow down, her life is probably going to feel so strange for a little while.
