If you were just round the corner I would ask you very very nicely to teach me a bit of tatting, too.
It's such a pity that you aren't! :-(
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished dress in this lovely gingham!
Enjoy creating, KathrinCraftsandLeaveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17633054084616710310[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3748043061128192357.post-2445699824868134342015-07-09T10:34:20.615-04:002015-07-09T10:34:20.615-04:00You have a treasure there with your grandmother...You have a treasure there with your grandmother's lace! My grandmother knew how to tat. It is a pity I didn't know her because she died when my mother was a teenager. But there is some lace band made by her. I will stick to the tatted lace around the neckline. Still not sure about the 'sleeves'. The flutter seems a little 'young'? to me. Thought I might leave it sleeveless or try to figure out how to add a short sleeve. That would be another 'first'! Ah, yes, you understand my gardening relationship well! I have looked at similar fabric in the UK and wondered what if, but my stash needs severely busting, so I stay away. The dress in the Japanese book looks perfect for such fabric. I look forward to seeing it in MAGAM. The edging is going to be a perfect compliment to the fabric you have chosen - and I think will set the dress off nicely - and this fabric certainly does not need a tatted hem as well - it would get lost and/or detract from the line of the dress. This will such a great dress for your hot summer days.

Touching story about your young friend. I didn't know what it was she was doing as I have never seen it before. It didn't occur to me then that you could do hems with that! That is just great and yours is so neat!
